The Franklin Institute
Located in Philadelphia, this Science Museum provides an educational, fun and unique experience for everyone, especially families! With 3 floors that offer interactive attractions, live shows and dissections, plus a Planetarium to explore. We did not have a plan in place when visiting, but after spending the day I can certainly offer one for you!
We started on the main floor that has some exhibits, a snack station, Franklin Memorial, Pendulum Stairs, The Eatery and the ticketing area. While they is so much to do here, I recommend starting on Floor 3 if you have littles that need to get out some energy since almost all of the exhibits are interactive in the SportsZone. Here are a few of them!
Hop on this life like surfboard complete with movement and controls
This 3 lane track allows you to race a friend with a timer!
This bike race was pretty fun too!
Now let's go back to the Floor 2 part, one of the big exhibits here is the Giant Heart that you can walk through complete with life like sounds. Our kids walked through this several times!
The brain exhibit was also very cool, there was a series of netted platforms that kids can climb through while the lighting changes from light to dark with sound effects.
On this floor is also the Electricity and Air Show exhibits. We really enjoyed the air show, it had some fun carnival style games, a plane you can sit in and take a photo op, put on some "wings" to experience flying and lots of other fun spots.
The Eatery is also on this floor, they have an array of food options that include salads, fried/grilled items, drinks, pizza, snacks and more. You can also grab a table and enjoy your own food to keep it budget friendly! We did not browse the Sci Store, but it is a large gift shop you can visit. Also on the floor is where you pay for parking, there is kiosk right by the elevator.
Floor 3 has the Planetarium, Space and Train exhibits. The Planetarium schedule can be found on Floor 2 along with the full schedule of events/shows for the day. There are about 20 minutes long and included with admission. Here are some pics from these exhibits.
