Our Day in Souderton

We wasted no time planning a day trip here and there during this year's Spring Break which included a trip to Souderton where we viewed the Asher's Chocolate factory and store, visited 2 local playgrounds and ended it with lunch at the local Burger King where we had the play place all to ourselves!

Asher's Chocolate Co is located on 80 Wambold Road in Souderton. They are a family-owned and operated business that has been making your favorite sweets for over 5 generations! We visited on a weekday, they opened at 9am and started with the self-guided factory tour. They ask that you respectfully do not take pictures or videos so I was able to capture a picture of the hallway and the prompts for the videos that will educate you as you walk the different stages of the tour. The employees were super friendly and waved as we walked through!

After the tour we browsed all the treats and sweets! There is truly something for everyone and one of our favorite parts were the smaller baskets for Emma to walk around with. They also have a Loyalty program so make sure you grab a punch card for future visits. Did you know? The Visit Valley Forge app has an offer for this and many other stores! Spend $20 and get a free pretzel of your choice from the candy case!

Next we visited two local playgrounds to fill up our time before we grabbed lunch. The first was Souderton Borough Community Park which is newly renovated. The space is big, bright colors, full work out area to the side, toddler/younger kid area just behind the larger/bigger kid area.

The second playground was a pretty good size, not as new, but offered a lot to do. That playground is Summit Avenue Playground. It has off street parking and located within a neighborhood. It also has a little free library

Then we headed to lunch with no pre planning in place, we checked out the main street and located Burger King and because it had the indoor play space that was my daughter's choice. It was pretty clean, and we had that back play area to ourselves. It had several booths, TVs and of course a play structure full of tunnels and slides.

The best part of our trip was that everything was in minutes of the next stop and we had a good few hours out of the house experiencing a new place in Pennsylvania. Souderton reminds me a little of Lancaster as far as the layout of space and land, but also offered the conveniences of shopping centers and other amenities. Overall it was a great time and they were many other playgrounds nearby too!
